Cod migrating from the Barents Sea to spawn on the warmer grounds of Lofoten after Christmas formed Norwegian fishery. Dried, salted, frozen and fresh cod is still a significant export article, only overtaken by farmed salmon being the major exported fish species nowadays.

In the beginning buying, processing, and selling Clip fish was core operations in the Odd Berg Group, parent company of Trofi®. With operations dating back to 1870s, the group has had considerable impact on the coastal and maritime heritage in Northern Norway.

All companies within Odd Berg Group are located in Tromsø. Trofi's production facilities are situated close to the city center taking advantage of modern infrastructure such as frequent and regular transport solutions - by road, sea and air, and railway from Narvik.
